This blog is brought to you by Edward

Weather is still pretty much the same but we are begining to get ourselves on West coast time, went out looking for apartment rentals yesterday and hopefuly will have something sorted in the next couple of weeks but mainly it was an excuse for me to drive the SUV around a lot although it did cost $30 to fill up! I've brought a cold over with me from the UK but am taking drugs to try and clear it so hopefully will be okay by next week.

We also drove up to Mount Hood to have a look and were very quickly waist deep in snow (That's my waist) we went as far as the first ski area (about an hour's drive once we'd found the right route) but needed snow chains to go further so turned round.

I went into work for a hour as well to sort out paper work so they can start paying me. We are just going to go some where local for tea tonight and try and stay up for the new year but not sure if our bodies have adjusted enough yet!

The first day

29th December 2008

A very hectic day which started very early - we woke at 5.30am. We have made some attempt to adjust our body clocks but seem stuck on East Coast time at the moment!

Our hotel is great. There is a separate bedroom, kitchen and bathroom and we have a lot of space in which to make a mess. The plant manager had sorted us a rental car out so we went to pick that up. Unfortunately, but joyously for Ed, they didn't have the medium sized car we had reserved so they upgraded us for free to a Ford Flex, a 'car' which makes Ed look small -->

We spent most of the day driving around and figuring out where we are. We seem to have brought the Manchester rain with us, although I suspect it was already here, so visibilty has been pretty bad. We sorted out a few practical bits, social security number and bank account and managed to fit in to our busy schedule a stop off for some all american fries for Eddie. We are yet to find any wedges!!

Thanks for all your messages and emails. It's nice to know you're thinking about us.

Love liz (and Ed)
